On Tuesday, Troy Joyner and Fabio Contu's bravery was recognised in this year’s Australian Bravery Decorations List.

Surfing heroes’ bravery recognised
Troy Joyner (right) of San Remo and his mate Fabio Contu, of Cape Paterson, were acclaimed heroes after tackling and restraining a mentally ill passenger threatening to blow up their plane with a bomb on a flight from Melbourne to Kuala Lumpur, five years ago in 2017. The pair, pictured back then boarding their rescheduled flight to resume a long awaited surfing trip, hours after the drama, have been recognised in this year’s Australian Bravery Decorations List.
