Surfing reserve donates to Lifeline

Five hundred dollars raised at this year’s National Surfing Reserve Teams Challenge event in February has been donated to Lifeline Gippsland, to help those dealing with mental health issues.

Surfing Reserve member, and current Victorian Women’s champion Sophie Fletcher is a Lifelife Community Custodian and ambassador and announced the donation last week.

“At our last event, we raised $500 for Lifeline Gippsland, which is an amazing community effort,” Sophie said.

“I think it’s important to raise money for such an important cause. Everyone goes through ups and downs and should know there is that support there always.

“With Lifeline, you can reach out 24/7 by calling 13 11 14.”

Lifeline Gippsland provides a range of programs and services, including the 24-hour crisis support line, which provides people with support for a range of issues including depression and other mental illnesses, substance abuse and domestic violence.
