Thank the heavens, rain revives water supplies

While farmers are still hesitant to declare the two-year drought finished - with parched soil soaking up rain and some dams still under half full - Westernport Water says restrictions are unlikely given recent rainfall. To boost supplies, we will still draw on water from the Victorian grid.

Despite recent bumper rains, a Surf Beach farm's dam is still only 30 per cent full, with the farmer saying the ground has soaked up all rain after two years' drought.
