The Gondoliers float into St John's
Marco and Giuseppe look forward to meeting you at St John's for a performance of Gilbert and Sullivan's The Gondoliers on May 26.

The fabulous Gilbert and Sullivan opera "The Gondoliers" will be performed at St John's Uniting Church on May 26.

The annual Singularity concert raises money to support Rubaga Youth Development Association (RYDA), Uganda.

Get ready for an afternoon of harmonious music, fabulous period costumes and an enthusiastic choir supporting delightful soloists. The choir is donating their time and talent to this important cause.

RYDA provides vocational and life skill training for orphaned and vulnerable young people and they accommodate, teach, feed and care for 100-200 young people at their Kampala live-in campus.

An accredited charity that receives no government funding, St John's have been supporting RYDA's work for many years.

The Gondoliers' story follows two handsome gondoliers raised as brothers, Marco and Giuseppe. One a prince, the heir to the kingdom of Barataria, the other a commoner.

Their father, who raised them alone (enough to drive anyone to drink) has imbibed so much through life that he can't remember which is which and they were never told.

Add one beautiful princess who, on the recent death of the King of Barataria, discovers that she was married to the prince when six months old.

Arriving in Venice to find her heir to the throne, the plot is further complicated by both handsome gondoliers being recent newlyweds ... and the princess secretly having chosen another to be the love of her life.

The outcome must surely be an afternoon of music and merriment not to be missed.

All welcome at St John's Uniting Church, Chapel Street, 2pm, Sunday May 26.

Tickets at the door: $15 adults and $5 under 14. Cash only, no EFTPOS.

All proceeds support Rubaga Youth Development Association, Uganda, in providing life and vocational skills training for orphaned and vulnerable girls and boys aged 12 to 18.
