Grab your mates and escape the hustle and bustle of daily life with Bicycle Network’s latest cycling adventure.
Grab your mates and escape the hustle and bustle of daily life with Bicycle Network’s latest fully supported cycling adventure – The Weekender on April 22 and 23.
The event will be held over the 2023 Anzac long weekend and is based in Leongatha.
Caitlin Borchers, Bicycle Network General Manager of Events, said: “West Gippsland has something for everyone – gourmet offerings, stunning scenery, hidden gems and quaint towns, and the perfect way to explore it by bike”.
The Weekender offers cyclists the option of two loop rides – so you only need to pitch your tent once or make one accommodation booking.
Day 1 – Saturday April 22: 115kms, 1203m elevation
Starting in Leongatha, the clockwise loop features quiet country roads, a climb through the Strzelecki Ranges and a descent to Leongatha. The ride includes the beautiful coastal route between Inverloch and Cape Paterson.
Day 2 – Sunday April 23: 70kms, 1229m elevation
Day two presents challenging climbs with the reward of the famous Grand Ridge Road and Gippsland Valley views. Country hospitality will be on offer in Mirboo North including the Grand Ridge Brewery and local cafes.
VetRide
Held over the Anzac Day long weekend, Bicycle Network is partnering with VetRide and will be commemorating a service with ex-service personnel during the event.
VetRide is an organisation dedicated through cycling to the welfare of all service and ex-service personnel of the Australian Defence Forces. At the same time, it provides something meaningful older veterans can do for their younger compatriots, consistent with the closely held values they held in uniform.
