Phillip Islanders who travelled across to the picnic races on Sunday to support the Health Hub Race Day included Mary and Carron Burke, with Dorothy Mahony and Geoffrey Tuck.

A good crowd gathered at the Woolamai racecourse on Sunday to support the Phillip Island Health Hub Race Day.

The gloomy weather didn’t dampen the spirits and the day was a huge success.

“So many members of the community and community groups came along and had a great day,” said Gill Scrase from the Health Hub Auxiliary.

“The Hub Auxiliary would like to thank all the generous sponsors and racegoers, especially those in the Big Wave pavilion who held an impromptu raffle, with fabulous prizes and raised over $2000 for the Health Hub.”

This is the third time the popular fundraiser has been held and previous events have raised more than $6000 each towards vital equipment for the hub.

The final tally for this year is not yet available, but all money raised will be used to upgrade local maternity services.

The Woolamai Racing Club will donate $5 from each adult entry ticket to the Health Hub Auxiliary.

“Many thanks to all who came and supported us,” said Gill.
