Thousands raised to support Waterline nurse
The Waterline community has raised $7000 in support of nurse practitioner Deb Garvey.
The Waterline community has raised almost $7000 in support of nurse practitioner Deb Garvey through a series of fundraisers.
The fundraisers, which included a Market of Treasures and a Living Library session culminated in a musical afternoon on November 19.
The fundraisers were organised after a Medicare review concluded that nurse practitioner Deb Garvey was spending more time with her patients than Medicare allowed and she’s been directed to repay money, with further restrictions placed on the Medicare items she can access.
The community rallied behind Deb, with $3086 raised through ticket sales and raffles at the music afternoon, $1535 from a Silent Auction and a further $2110 from the Market of Treasures.
“A great amount was raised which will not solve Deb’s problems but will clearly show the love the Waterline townships have for the untiring and inspirational work that Deb does daily,” said the event organisers.
They thanked the community for their support, as well as the volunteers who helped set up for both events and everyone who donated goods for the silent auction, and the amazing musicians who entertained the crowd.
