Thumbs up to renovations

Residents of Griffiths Point Lodge (GPL) residential care facility at San Remo are appreciating recently renovated rooms.
One wing of GPL has been transformed so far, including the hallway and eight bedrooms, as part of a five-stage refurbishment works program.
A new nurse call bell system has also been installed in rooms, and all utility rooms such as linen, medication and dirty utility rooms will be refurbished.
Resident Ronda Schubert is impressed by the renovated room she is staying in while her own room is refurbished.
“It’s nice and fresh, and I like the flooring very much,” she said.
Resident Betty Pescud is also enjoying a short stay in a new room while hers undergoes work.
“It’s beautiful and I love it. The paint colour is nice and so is the colour of the new floor,” she said.
The $1 million makeover, involving partial internal renovations only, is due to be completed by the end of August.
In August 2022, Bass Coast Health CEO Jan Child told the Advertiser that over the coming years, a plan was needed for “a new and expanded service at GPL, to meet the needs of our older community”.
The facility currently provides 29 beds.
