Tough day for girls against Dalyston

The Island's Youth Girls knew this was going to be a tough match. Top-of-the-ladder Dalyston and their experienced defenders made putting numbers on the scoreboard a tough job.

To the Island's credit, the girls stepped up and gave it their all. They got off on a strong foot, having the first five inside 50s.

Undersized and outnumbered, they showed the true Bulldog spirit and scrapped hard throughout the game, never backing down.

With excellent tackle pressure throughout the ream, Ruby King (stepping in for the Youth Girls) proved a highlight, laying at least 15 tackles throughout the match.

As the clock pushed into the third quarter, the Island put their first goal on the board after a great snap around the body by Lily O'Loughlin.

Jade Ricardo - the Youth Girls' fearless leader - did well, cutting the losing margin by 30 points against Dalyston.

Despite a tough season for the girls, they have pushed on, shown consistent improvement and look forward to finishing the season off strong in the next two weeks.

Additionally, they would like to thank the many U14 Girls who step up and fill the gaps each week within the team.

Scores: Phillip Island 1.0.6. Dalyston 8.15.63.

Best players: Ruby King, Jade Ricardo, Lily O'Loughlin, Lily "Elbow" Bow, Tess Ricardo and Tahlia Jessup.
