Significant trees will be given better protection under Bass Coast Shire Council’s revision of local laws.

Trees to be given more protection
Conservationists are calling for the local law to include a permit for any work under significant trees. For example, any future development at the old Isle of Wight site will be required to create a 15-metre no-go radius to protect the historic 150-year-old Moreton Bay fig tree on the Cowes Esplanade.
