U11s take win against Garfield
Phillip Island: 20 def Garfield: 17.
An icy Saturday morning saw us venture down to Garfield in what was going to be another tight game considering the ladder positions of both teams.
Unfortunately, Ella was a late out due to sickness, but Claire was able to fill the void coming across from the LDNA team for the day.
Milla was named captain for the day and showed great leadership and a calm head when the game was tight and needed it.
The first quarter the girls flew out of the gates with plenty of ball coming into the circle, but just couldn't capitalise on the opportunity.
On the other end, the defence was strong, but when the Garfield goalers had their chance, they didn't miss.
Second quarter the girls had a couple of changes, one being Ellie that went into GS and started nailing them from everywhere.
Olive continued her great season so far contributing to goals and linking up well through the middle of the court.
The second half was a battle going goal for goal, with our girls still getting plenty of it in good spots but just not being able to put Garfield away.
Evie and Marley were doing a great job deep in defence repelling a lot of attacks, but Garfield had their eye in when shooting goals and kept them in it for the day.
The end score of 20-17 proved how close the competition is and what a great game it was from both sides.
Awards went to Marley for a great game in defence and to Claire who filled in for the day and was a key part of the girls getting another win on the board!
We enter the mid-season break on a little streak and can't wait for the next game against the undefeated Tooradin team.
Go Island.
