U16 Bulldogs v Warragul

Phillip Island Fourths showed plenty of determination at the kennel on Easter Saturday but were unable to match a polished Warragul Industrials side, going down by 23 points.

The Bulldogs battled hard across all four quarters, however Warragul’s ability to make the most of their scoring opportunities proved the difference in the result.

Warragul got the early jump, kicking 4.4 in the opening term to take a 15-point lead into quarter time, while Phillip Island stayed in touch with 2.1.

The Bulldogs continued to compete strongly in the second quarter and worked hard around the contest, but Warragul maintained scoreboard pressure to lead 35 to 20 at half-time.

Phillip Island remained in the fight after the main break, adding two goals in the third quarter to stay within reach at 49 to 32 heading into the final term.

The Bulldogs pushed hard late, but Warragul finished strongly to secure the win.
Despite the result, Phillip Island showed resilience and effort throughout the afternoon and will take plenty of positives into the next round.
