Ukulele Festival

The Phillip Island and Bass Coast Ukulele Festival is returning on November 30 and December 1 at Berninneit, in Thompson Avenue, Cowes.

The festival runs over two days.

Saturday includes a selection of workshops with Sally Carter, Chantelle Riordan, Ian McMullan, Leif Ericson and Awkward Strangers.

Sunday December 1 will be a great celebration of the ukulele with performances throughout the day. There is an opportunity for play-along sessions and sharing.

Awkward Strangers is a ukulele-based duo who are theatrical, witty, atypical and experimental. They will lead the morning in with a Kanikapila play-along.

Local and regional ukulele groups will also perform and share with play-alongs.

"Across The Waters" project by Dr Laura Brearley will be a highlight prior to lunch on Sunday. The afternoon session will include more local groups and play-alongs and upcoming young ukulele star Sage Marie who recently hit number one in the Atomic top 20.

It will conclude with a wonderful performance by Green Fieldz. The duo create a storm of high end energy with blazing fiddle, wild guitar work and melodic ukulele.
The Sunday 10am-4pm Kanikapila cost is $15 for adults.

If you can play already - this event will certainly inspire you to continue your journey.
