Historic cars on show

There will be some classic cars on the streets of Cowes this Friday (March 8) as the island gears up for the Phillip Island Classic – Festival of Motorsports.

Fast becoming a tradition for the Phillip Island Classic is the Cowes Car Show on the Friday afternoon.

Starting at 4pm and stretching through to mid-evening, this free car show is set up in the centre of Cowes.

But this isn’t just any car show.

The event, proudly presented by Bowden’s Own and held in association with the Phillip Island Classic – Festival of Motorsports and the Bass Coast Shire Council, is in Thompson Avenue, and everyone is invited to come along.

In attendance each year are several classic historic race and road cars that are sure to get the blood pumping. Some of the cars even make their way straight from the track!

This year’s Phillip Island Classic – Festival of Motorsport will be celebrating 50 years of the mighty L34 Torana and as part of this celebration, there will be a gaggle of race-prepared L34 Torana’s on show at the Cowes Car Show as well as a collection of Group C race cars.

Thompson Avenue will be shut down to all traffic for the duration of the event to give onlookers the chance to get up close and personal with these magic machines.

Merchandise and discounted Sunday race tickets will also be on sale at the event.

The 2024 Phillip Island Classic Festival of Motorsport takes place from March 8 – 10 at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit.

Tickets at the gate. Patrons under 17 years of age are free to enter if accompanied by an adult.
