1 min read

Bass Coast Shire Council has announced six new trainees will undertake a 12-month traineeship, each working with a different team within the Council.

In their work they will be contributing to important projects within the community, gaining valuable experience for their own careers and strengthening the future labour force for Bass Coast.

The trainees are:

  • Emlyn Blackman, Arts, Culture and Heritage team.
  • Ruby McGillivray, who has joined the People and Culture team.
  • Zara Mazzei, the newest member of the Building Services team.
  • Matthew Keitley, who is part of the Information Technology team.
  • Emma Longden, who is also working with the Arts, Culture and Heritage team.
  • Julia Munro, joining the Tourism and Business Development team.

These trainees will be supported in their development by Westvic Staffing Solutions, with Bass Coast Shire Council acting as their host employer.

As well as working with their respective teams, over the course of the next 12 months the trainees will also study a qualification relevant to their traineeship.

The program is a partnership between Bass Coast Shire Council and Westvic Staffing Solutions, with supervisors and teams actively supporting this valuable pathway for upskilling individuals in our community.

"The trainees have already integrated well into their roles, showcasing enthusiasm and a strong desire to learn and contribute to the work of the Council," said Council CEO Greg Box.

"I'd really encourage any businesses in the region to make contact with Westvic Staffing Solutions and see how they can also support a trainee in the workplace."
