U14 Mixed Red

The U14s are back for Round 1 of the 2024 season and all the players were pumped to be back out on the field.

Dalyston got away with a flyer in the first quarter catching the pups off guard, getting a significant lead in the first 10 minutes. Kolby Carton was the standout in defence, playing like a goalkeeper from full back doing everything he could to keep them out.

After some words from coach Jon Parry, the U14s came out looking like a new team in the second quarter led by some great tackling from Gemma Fisher and Kai Sturt playing on either wing.

Kolby once again playing brilliantly from full back and Archer Bailey-Cox brought a real physical presence to the game from half back.

The island was unable to capitalize on their opportunities in the second quarter leaving it goalless for both sides by the end of the second.

The third quarter began and Captain Jackson Allan was able to kick the first goal of the season from a good run of play that started from one of Kolby's kickouts.

The island were then able to lock the ball in their forward half with Archer having another great quarter in the midfield and Callum Chamber dominating in the ruck, but once again, were unable to make it count on the scoreboard.

Into the fourth quarter and once again the game was quite even in the first few minutes, Dusty and Gemma were standouts with their tackling. But the pups began to run out of steam and their nine less players on the bench started to count as they began to kick away. Kolby and Archer were still giving their all, but Dalyston were a pretty good side led by star player Shelton Winmar who dominated the game kicking a bag of goals from the midfield.

Dexter was able to get a goal at the end of the game which capped off a good display from him.
