A big thank you for garden volunteers
PICAL volunteers who have worked tirelessly to establish the new community garden at Blue Gum Reserve were thanked with a special afternoon tea in December.
PICAL volunteers who have worked tirelessly to establish the new community garden at Blue Gum Reserve were thanked with a special afternoon tea in December.
The produce from this community garden contributes to the PICAL food pantry which supports those in need on the Island.
During this special gathering, guests were treated to a garden tour guided by volunteers and took home fresh herbs nestled in exquisite recycled and repurposed tea cups.
Volunteers have made the new garden beds and raised seedlings to support the garden, after the original garden at the old PICAL site in Church Street was dismantled to make way for the new community hospital.
The community is welcome to drop by the garden and talk to the volunteers, and anyone interested in joining the gardening team can contact PICAL on 5952 1131, or via pical.org.au.
A community open day to celebrate the new garden is expected to be held in early 2024.
