A sign for the times
PIMHAG is pleased that the groundworks are well underway for the construction of the Phillip Island Community Hospital.
The Phillip Island Medical and Health Action Group (PIMHAG) is pleased that the groundworks are well underway for the construction of the Phillip Island Community Hospital (PICH) in Church Street.
The group said it would welcome a larger and more prominent permanent sign to be erected by the Victorian Hospital Building Authority informing the community, holiday makers and visitors about this long awaited, significant project.
“It really beggars belief that such a sign wasn’t erected at the site at commencement of works, as usually happens on state government projects,” said President Peter Paul.
“PIMHAG wants the message ‘that the PICH has started’ known and appreciated by all, and that it is on track to be completed by late 2024.”
Peter said it had been a long journey to get to this point.
“Over 15 years ago, PIMHAG commenced its advocacy for such a facility, as a result of the closure of Warley Hospital.
“We greatly appreciate the efforts of our local Member, Jordan Crugnale, and the state government, and Bass Coast Health CEO, Jan Child, in bringing the PICH to fruition,” he said.
“It is a wonderful, unifying outcome for our community, and will be a very special Christmas present in 2024.”
