A treasure Trove of family history
Looking for evidence of a family myth, birth, death or a photo of an ancestor?
Looking for evidence of a family myth, birth, death or a photo of an ancestor?
Then the Phillip Island and District Genealogical Society (PIADGS) is here to help.
On Saturday May 9, PIADGS is holding an information session from 2pm to 4pm at the Newhaven Hall, to talk about Trove.
What is Trove?
Part of the National Library, Trove is an Australian online research database including images, diaries, newspapers and documents.
It provides access to thousands of state and local newspapers from early settlement to 1954, and holds the digital collections of many libraries, museums, galleries, and media, government and community organisations from around the country.
It contains a wealth of information on Australian families, so it's a valuable tool for anyone researching their family history.
The information session on May 9 will show you how to search Trove and research all your family's secrets.
Guest speaker on the day is Trena Ronnfeldt, Library Manager of the Genealogical Society of Victoria, who previously coordinated Trove programs at the National Library.
Everyone is welcome.
The cost is $5 for members and $10 for non-members, with afternoon tea provided.
Please RSVP by Wednesday May 6 to piadgs@outlook.com
