A very good Friday in San Remo
San Remo is hosting its annual fundraising drive for the Good Friday Appeal. Last year the community raised over $65,000, a phenomenal effort.
San Remo is hosting its annual fundraising drive for the Good Friday Appeal.
Last year the community raised over $65,000, a phenomenal effort.
This year's local businesses and volunteers are coming together to do it all again, hoping to match or exceed last year's tally.
The San Remo CFA will be doing a street walk on Good Friday, with volunteers and vehicles, complete with sirens, visiting San Remo, Cape Woolamai, Newhaven, Surf Beach and Sunderland Bay.
Handing out Easter eggs for the kids, they'll be accepting cash and EFTPOS donations.
"The Appeal has always been a reminder of what we can achieve when we come together, and our brigade is honoured to contribute," said Sarah Fry, from San Remo CFA.
"We know times are challenging for many, and any contribution big or small makes a real difference."
Also putting their best foot forward are the organisers of this year's George Bass Walk for the Kids.
Organised by a team of volunteers and the San Remo Hotel, and supported by local businesses, all proceeds go to the Good Friday Appeal.
There is a choice of two events.
The first is a 7.5 kilometre walk along the stunning George Bass Coastal Walk, starting in Kilcunda and ending at Punch Bowl Road. Shuttle buses run from the San Remo Hotel from 9am onwards.
The second event is the three-kilometre San Remo Town Walk, which is suitable for families and prams. Finish before 2pm to go in the running to win an Easter hamper.
Throughout the day there is entertainment, kids' games and live music at the San Remo Hotel, as well as raffles and a silent auction.
You can register on the day from 8am at the San Remo Hotel, via the QR code, or online at www.trybooking.com/events/landing/1536241
