Bass Coast 85% and rising
Bass Coast passed the the 80 per cent double dose mark last week.
Bass Coast steamed past the 80 per cent double dose mark last week, hitting 85.7 per cent in the figures released by the Federal government on Monday, making it the first Gippsland council to reach the magic milestone.
Bass Coast Health reported it delivered 1715 Vaccinations at the Community Vaccination Clinic at Wonthaggi last week. East and South Gippsland shires have also reached the 80 per cent target, at 81.5 and 80.8 per cent respectively.
Every shire in Gippsland has now delivered first doses of the vaccines to 94 per cent or more of the population.
Latrobe and Baw Baw, the shires that currently have the highest case numbers in Gippsland, are currently sitting on 70.1 per cent (Latrobe) and 78.6 per cent (Baw Baw) double dose.
According to Gippsland Region Public Health Unit, as of Monday, there were 222 active cases in Baw Baw and 332 in Latrobe.
Last week, Latrobe Regional Hospital (the designated hospital caring for Covid patients across Gippsland) said it was caring for nine patients, with four in ICU.

Anyone with even the mildest of symptoms is urged to get tested immediately and then isolate at home until receiving a result.
Last week, Bass Coast Health conducted 1330 tests across the Wonthaggi and Cowes testing sites.
The Cowes drive through is located at the Transit Centre, and due to staffing shortages, is closed on Thursday and Sunday this week. Other days it's open from 9am – 3pm.
The Wonthaggi testing site has relocated to Watt Street (the site of the former McBride Campus of Wonthaggi Secondary College) and is open 9am – 4pm, seven days.
