Its five beaches have strong rips and currents and are not patrolled by lifesavers. Rock fishermen are advised to exercise extreme caution.

• Cat Bay - Suitable for beginners to experienced surfers. (Steep descent down.)

• Flynn's Beach - Known for its great waves for the experienced surfer. (Steep descent down.  A must visit for the Instagram pic.)

• Summerland Beach - Entry to the beach via the famous Penguin Parade.  A wide beach front with a continuous sand bar. This beach is closed off nightly for the Penguin Parade.

• Cowrie Bay - Popular for the experienced surfer.  At low tide, waves break over the rocks.
