The Forrest Caves beach access project started in February has been completed, with the stairs now reopened to the public.
The Forrest Caves beach access has been upgraded to improve safety for beachgoers.
Phillip Island Nature Parks said improvements include a reconfiguration of stairs and landings to the north and south stairway and replacement of deteriorating timbers and fixings. Non-slip materials were implemented to improve safety.
The Nature Parks construction team, together with local contractors delivered the project which was undertaken in several stages to prevent disruption during peak summer season and during short-tailed shearwater fledging period.
The beach access closed in February with the final stage of the upgrade started in June. The project was scheduled to be completed before the start of the September holidays.
The Nature Parks extended thanks to the local community and beachgoers for their patience during required closures.
