With Victoria reaching the 80 per cent double dose target on Friday, restrictions will ease from 6pm and the long weekend celebrations will begin.
We’re expecting an influx of visitors from Melbourne keen to get out and enjoy our beautiful island after months in lockdown.
In an announcement on Sunday, Premier Daniel Andrews said regional Victoria and Melbourne will be on the same restrictions, meaning everyone was free to travel.
“We made a deal with the Victorian community – we asked them to get vaccinated and promised that when they did, we would open up and begin to live alongside the virus. Today we are delivering on that promise," the Premier said.
Local businesses are looking forward to welcoming visitors back for a weekend that traditionally marks the start of the busy summer season.
