Big week on the field for junior Dogs - U10 Red
This week's U10 Red junior footy report.
A chilly start at Daly this week saw the Pups go head-to-head with the determined Magpies.
It was a grubby start with both teams getting lots of the ball but once it got to their 50 it stayed there with Sunny kicking the first goal.
Jack Frank showed a lot of promise on the wing with a lot of running into space.
In the second quarter the Magpies came back hard testing our backline with Leith, Ray and Austin trying their hardest, but it wasn’t enough to stop a goal from the Magpies.
Another high light in the second quarter was Cody’s strong tackling taking down two Daly boys in two seconds.
Daly came out strongly again in the third quarter winning the tap out but Max Parry with help from Tate Steward stopped it dead fending off two Daly tackles and pushed it back to the forward line.
But the Daly boys were just as strong and fought back.
This was pretty much how this quarter went back and forth with no team scoring.
The Island came out strong in the final quarter and determined.
They got the ball to Lenny who got a goal straight up.
Once they scored the Pups dominated with Tanner and Cody building a solid defensive wall, so it didn’t leave the forward-line, which helped this week's captain – Izzac kicking a solid goal!
Pups finished the game on top, well done kids!
Awards this week: Austin Bennett, Ray Wolfenden, Sunny Woodrup and Jack Frank.
