Bulldogs keep finals campaign alive

Phillip Island’s senior side has kept its season alive with a strong 26-point victory over Cora Lynn in Saturday’s elimination final at Inverloch.
The Bulldogs made a brilliant start to the must-win contest, putting Cora Lynn under immediate pressure and taking control early. Phillip Island piled on 40 points in the opening quarter while restricting Cora Lynn to just eight, setting up a commanding lead at the first break.
Cora Lynn responded in the second term and managed to reduce the margin, but Phillip Island continued to work hard around the ground and went into half-time with a 53–26 advantage.
The Bulldogs again gained the upper hand after the main break, extending their lead to 62–27 at three-quarter time. With their season on the line, Cora Lynn made a final push in the last quarter, but Phillip Island had done enough and held firm to record a 69–43 victory.
It was an important finals win for the Bulldogs, who now turn their attention to the next challenge. Phillip Island will travel to Warragul to take on Warragul in the next round, with another must-win contest standing between the Bulldogs and a place deeper into the finals series.
