Case numbers remain high

Covid case numbers have exploded this month, with cases increasing seven-fold in the first two weeks of January, peaking at 706 on January 12.

Jan Child, CEO of Bass Coast Health said without question the daily Bass Coast tally of Covid-positive patients did not accurately reflect the total number.

With no testing site on the island and limited access to rapid antigen tests, it’s likely the real number is higher than the official figures.
