Foreshore where private homes have encroached onto public land – will be planted with 10,000 trees.

“Clearing of vegetation on Crown land is illegal,” the Bass Coast Shire sign reads, erected at the end of 2020 in Ventnor after officers removed privately-built stairs to the beach. Council has revealed they are currently following up more than 400 incidents of foreshore encroachment, with 223 cases on Phillip Island alone.
