Close call at San Remo

A huge pine tree branch came crashing down this afternoon around 4 pm, narrowly missing the children's playground on the San Remo foreshore.

Fortunately, no one was injured.

Nearby business owners and customers raced across fearing children or families might have been trapped under the tree.

SES crews arrived quickly on site and secured the area.

Nathan Murphy from the Spicy Duck restaurant on Marine Parade was one of the first on the scene.

"Thank god this didn't happen tomorrow," he said when the foreshore would have been filled with people enjoying the Easter holidays.
