Community invited to PICAL
PICAL is holding an Open Day to showcase its new headquarters.
PICAL is holding an Open Day on Saturday February 11, from 10am – 1pm to showcase its new Warley Avenue headquarters.
“The community is invited to come and have a look at our new facilities and learn a bit about what PICAL does,” said PICAL General Manager Greg Thompson.
PICAL is now one of the largest volunteer organisations on Phillip Island, and many of the volunteer teams will take guided tours through the new building, and demonstrate the various activities that involve volunteers at PICAL
In particular, the Garden Volunteers will be showcasing plans for the exciting new Phillip Island Community Garden being constructed in Blue Gum Reserve, Cowes. Anyone interested in volunteering in any of PICAL’s activities can also sign-up on the day.
Several other community groups that already operate from PICAL’s new headquarters, including the MyLi Cowes Library, will also be talking about their partnerships with PICAL.
PICAL’s Term 1 adult learning program will be on display and taking student enrolments, as well as any suggestions for new learning subjects that PICAL may be able to run later in 2023.
One of the things happening at the Open Day will be a launch of a new Women’s Friendship Café at PICAL.
The Friendship Café will cater to all local women, from any background and life experience. the Friendship Cafe will serve as a safe first-point-of-contact for any women needing assistance and referral to any other services, but it is expected that the Friendship Cafe will also grow into a positive space for women to explore a whole range of personal development, social and learning activities.
The Phillip Island Rotary Club is providing a BBQ Sausage Sizzle, and the PICAL Cooking Team will be serving coffee and cakes, to enjoy in a pop-up al fresco dining area.
