Get your hands dirty with Landcare
1 min read

Bass Coast Landcare Network would like to invite you to get your hands dirty and help green up the Bass Coast this winter.

“This year alone, 250,000 plants will go in the ground, a number that is steadily increasing every year,” said Lisa Wangman from Bass Coast Landcare.

“We have seen so many benefits of past plantings, including improved water quality in creeks and rivers, wildlife moving through previously lifeless areas, and a reduction in erosion at multiple sites, not to mention the positive visual change in the landscape, which is getting better every year as past plantings fill out.”

Landcare has already held numerous planting days this year, but there are still plenty on the calendar, if you’d like to get involved.

“With an increase in planting projects, a rise in volunteer numbers is important to achieve vegetation goals for our beautiful Bass Coast,” explained Lisa.

“It may be cold and blustery outside, but there are so many mental and physical health benefits of getting out there in the fresh air and spending a few hours chatting amongst friends while building the forests of the future … it truly is a great feeling."

Plantings generally run from 10am-2pm, with a delicious hot BBQ lunch provided by the landholder as a thank you for your efforts.
