PICAL Manager Greg Thompson erects street-signage advertising the Moving Sale this weekend on November 12 and 13, from 9am to 3pm both days.
The time for PICAL to vacate its old site in Church Street Cowes is rapidly approaching.
Consequently the Phillip Island Community Centre is clearing out accumulated treasures that it cannot take to its new site.
PICAL has been on its current Church Street site for 40 years, and some of the accumulated items date back to when the organisation originally started as a Kids House Children’s Day Centre in 1982, before becoming a Neighbourhood House Community Centre in the late 1990s.
On Saturday November 12 and Sunday November 13, from 9am to 3pm, PICAL will be holding a huge Moving Sale, to dispose of all these treasures.
“We have been selling several items online on the local Phillip Island Noticeboard Facebook page, but there was a still vast range of contemporary items up for sale on the weekend at the Moving Sale,” PICAL Manager Greg Thompson said.
“These may be of great use to someone, such as whitegoods, kitchen appliances, furniture, crockery, cutlery, DVDs, computer, equipment, building materials and clothing. There are items such as stainless-steel benches and sinks that would suit a new restaurant or food business.”
Greg said PICAL would rather anything that is still useful go to a good home, rather than to landfill.
“Come along and bag a bargain, because we want everything to go,” he said.
To add to the festive feel of the event, PICAL will also be running a sausage-sizzle on both days.
PICAL will vacate its old Church Street site in the week commencing Monday November 28, and will re-open at its new Warley Avenue home on Monday December 5.
