Walk to fight dementia
1 min read

This intrepid group of friends walked 28kms on Saturday, raising much needed funds for dementia research.

The walk was organised by Scott Murphy, who owns a home at Ventnor, and is the second walk for the group, who last year braved snow and rain to walk from Mt Hotham to Falls Creek.

This year, the weather was kinder, with mostly clear skies for the 17-strong group, who gathered at the Wooli Tavern car park at 10am on Saturday morning. The group travelled from Melbourne and South Australia to take part.

The walking route went along Phillip Island Road, down Churchill Road and then along a walking track to Churchill Island. The group then walked along the coast line of Newhaven, under the bridge and along Cleeland Bight before tackling the Cape Walk and making their way back to the Wooli Tavern for a well-deserved drink.

The group has raised over $12,500 so far and it is still possible to donate to the cause.

You can donate online, and simply type "WTF! Scott" in the comments section so The Florey can keep track of the fundraising efforts.
