With national debate focusing on the slow pace of wage rises, Bass Coast Shire councillors last week officially received an income hike.

Councillors receive pay rise
Councillors will receive a pay rise after the Victorian Independent Remuneration Tribunal ruled last month on pay rates for all Victorian councils. Deputy mayor Leticia Laing is the greatest beneficiary, with a separate allowance now set for a deputy mayor equivalent to half the mayoral allowance.
