Grantville’s sand resources are of “strategic importance”, according to the Distinctive Areas and Landscapes (DAL) project. “These resources safeguard the economic security and future growth of metropolitan Melbourne, including the delivery of key public infrastructure projects and the construction industry.” Conservation groups are fighting this.
