The Deb Rielly Run for the Kids returns on Sunday February 22.

The popular community event includes a two, five and 10 kilometre run, plus an individual and family-friendly walk, as well as a half marathon.

Organised by a subcommittee of the Dalyston Football Netball Club (DFNC), Run for the Kids is held in honour of Deb Rielly, a much loved and inspirational part of the Bass Coast community who passed away in 2019.

The reinvigorated event was relaunched in 2024, and embraced by the local community, with last year’s event attracting hundreds, with ages ranging from 82 to babies in pushers.

Frank Angarane from the organising committee, said the expanded program reflects Deb's vision for the event.

"Deb was a serious competitor, and she wanted the event to include serious athletes as well as community groups and families," Frank said.

"Deb was passionate about being fit and getting out and about in our amazing environment and this event encourages as many people as possible to get active and appreciate our surroundings."

The run starts at the main Kilcunda Foreshore car park and runners and walkers will all cross the iconic trestle bridge and take in the fantastic Bass Strait coastline.

Profits raised from the event will be used for the DFNC junior development program with a component donated to support charities or programs consistent with Deb and her family's wishes and the event philosophy.
