Dining returns – for pelican and Co-op customers

It’s been a great week at the San Remo Fishermen’s Co-op.

Last Monday, both staff and customers were pleased to see indoor dining return to the Co-op – as it turns out, quite good timing with the nasty weather that arrived.
Then on Thursday, Co-op staff restarted public presentations at the midday Pelican Feeding for the first time since March 2020.

Co-op management had been waiting for approval from authorities for the daily presentation to resume.

“Huge thanks to Kim Storey from Destination Phillip Island, who liaised with DHHS to get the Pelican Feeding over the line,” commented Co-op manager Paul Mannix.
“Today was our first day back. Long term feeder Val Dohl was stoked to have the honour of the first feed – and we had 27 pellies and about the same number of humans!”

The pelican talk now includes a reference to physical distancing requirements – and new beach signage conveys the same message.
Hopefully this is one more step in getting back to normal.
