Edible Gardens return
The third Bass Coast Edible Garden weekend returns on February 10 and 11, 2024, with tickets now available at Trybooking.

Eager gardeners will be able to explore 17 bountiful gardens at the third Bass Coast Edible Garden event.

Preparations for the annual Bass Coast Edible Gardens weekend are in full swing and all garden lovers are being urged to save-the-date for an inspiring two days on February 10 and 11.

The event showcases the many benefits that come from nurturing your little green haven. Whether it’s no-dig gardens, permaculture, espaliering fruit trees or wicking beds, the event’s gardens are certain to provoke questions and inspire others to follow their example.

In an era of soaring living costs and fluctuating food availability due to extreme weather events, growing your own food doesn’t just have practical benefits. It also helps you to keep costs down, build friendships with neighbours and your local community and improve your health with freshly grown, chemical free produce reducing food miles along the way.

Sharon, Gardens Coordinator, says that she’s absolutely thrilled to have many new gardens including a rural property in Kilcunda with over 50 years of gardening experience, a quirky art-filled edible garden in Cape Woolamai, and a lovely family garden in Wonthaggi join in the 2024 event.

For a sneak peek into what awaits, the website is now live, offering glimpses into the 17 gardens that will open their gates from 10am to 4pm both days.

Tickets available at www.trybooking.com/CMWOU.

Whether you're eager to explore all gardens for just $25 or prefer to delve into specific ones at $5 each, there's an option for everyone.

Organisers, Sharon, Maddy and Mary are looking for volunteers to support what is a major fundraiser for Bass Coast Adult Learning (BCAL). Volunteers will then be rewarded with a complimentary all-gardens ticket. Simply fill in the volunteer form on the website: www.basscoastediblegardens.com or email bceg@bcal.vic.edu.au.
