Election feature: Aaron Brown – Liberal
This state election is the most important in the last 30 years, for Victoria and for Phillip Island
Candidate statement:
"This state election is the most important in the last 30 years, for Victoria as a whole and for Phillip Island. There are so many problems that the Andrews Labor Government has failed to address. They include record state government debt and the burden this imposes on future generations. Labor has also failed to address a worsening health crisis. It has introduced or increased more than 40 taxes, despite explicitly promising not to do so. This has only exacerbated the cost-of-living pressures facing Victorians. Locally, many people have expressed their frustration with projects that were promised for Bass prior to the 2018 election and still haven't been delivered.
Bass needs a Member of Parliament who will listen to constituents and be across the myriad of issues of concern to them. I believe I have the local knowledge and the necessary skills to be an effective advocate for the people of Bass.
I have made my views known on a number of important issues, including healthcare, education, roads, landscape proposals negatively affecting farmers, coastal erosion, offshore wind energy, and the Westernport Woodlands.
I have been able to successfully secure close to $1 billion dollars in Liberal Party commitments for Bass.
Some projects that I have been able to successfully obtain funding commitments for include the $42 Phillip Island Aquatic Centre, Phillip Island Community Hospital, an additional $10 million to complete stage 1 of the Vietnam Veterans Museum, $350,000 for the Phillip Island Football Netball Club and the $928 million commitment to extend rail to Clyde.
In conclusion, I ask you all to consider who is the best person to represent Bass for the next four years. As I stated previously, I believe Bass needs a community focused person who can deal with the myriad of complex issues that this amazing electorate will face in the years ahead. I believe I am well placed to be that person.
As a local farmer with a young family, I have the background, the experience, and the emotional investment in this electorate to be a strong local voice for our community.
A vote for me and the Liberal Party is a vote for real solutions that will deliver security and a better future for the people of Bass."
