Elyse’s lip service

Mandatory face masks may be useful in the battle against COVID-19, but for deaf people who rely on lip-reading they are proving problematic.
So manager of the San Remo Hotel Elyse Fisher (pictured) – well known for her community support – has created a lanyard to help the deaf or hearing impaired.
“I am deaf. I cannot lipread through your mask. To communicate with me please be patient and use your mobile phone or pen and paper,” the lanyard reads.
Lanyards are available from San Remo Hotel Thirsty Camel Bottle Shop, as well as their other venue, The Korumburra Middle Hotel.
