Waterline community is “doing it for Deb”
1 min read

The Waterline community is holding a series of events in the coming months, including events to raise funds for the area’s nurse practitioner.

The funds raised will help Deb Garvey continue the practice in Grantville, which has operated in the area for 11 years.

It kicks off with a Market of Treasures on September 17, running from 9.30am to 2pm at the Coronet Bay Hall.

Items being donated by the community include original artwork, books, collectables, furniture and even a brand new drone.

All proceeds from the market will be used to help the Nurse Practitioner service to continue in Grantville.

The next day, the area celebrates the 10th anniversary of the Bass Coast Post, with the Post’s Catherine Watson the guest speaker at a Living Library session on September 18 from 2pm to 4pm.

Catherine will also give an update on the Save Western Port campaign and the event will conclude with an afternoon tea.

Cost is $3 and please call 0455 333 946 to confirm your attendance.

Then on Saturday, November 19, a musical afternoon is being organised, again to raise funds for the nurse practitioner service.

From 5pm to late at the Corinella Hall, special guests The Flaming Mushrooms will entertain the crowd, along with other performers. The Cheeky Goose Café food truck will supply a mouth-watering range of food during the evening.

Tickets are limited and selling fast, available now through trybooking.com.

The fundraisers were organised after a recent Medicare review concluded that nurse practitioner Deb Garvey was spending more time with her patients than Medicare allowed and she’s been directed to repay money, with further restrictions placed on the Medicare items she can access.

A GoFundMe page has been set up: www.gofundme.com/f/help-the-nurse-practitioner-clinic.
