Footy juniors tough it out against Leongatha - U10 Red

A beautiful day awaited the pups this week, the sun was out and not a breath of wind.

Perfect conditions for the two titans of under 10s football – Phillip Island Red vs Leongatha Parrots.

Led by their captain this week, Toby McHugh.

It was a strong start from Leongatha, pushing the ball straight into our forward line, but the backline had a plan to keep it out.

Cody Naismith was leading a strong defence, with help from Brock Larsson and Baylin Elliott.

The second quarter started strong for the pups, with Eddie Maier smashing through some would-be tacklers and kicking it into the forward line.

While Eddie had the midfield sorted, full back Jack Caffery took some strong marks to save certain goals with support from Reeve Dennis and Izacc Naarden.

The third quarter was very back and forth.

As soon as the pups got the ball into the forward line the ‘Gatha kids got it back out with strong tackling from our midfielders Max Robinson and Lenny Nolan.

The final quarter had Ray tackling hard, trying his hardest to get it into the forwards.

The strong marks from Cody and Brock were looking promising, when it moved to the backline Fletcher Hennessy was there waiting, however it wasn’t enough for our little pups with Leongatha proving to be too strong in the end.

Great job for our pups this week.
