Footy juniors tough it out against Leongatha - U12 Blue

The U12 Blue pups travelled to Dalyston to take on the Magpies in round eight.

Captain Kai Sturt fired up the team before he led them onto the field.

Kicking into the wind proved to be hard work, but the team defended well, led by Kane Patton and Zac Ivey.

In the second quarter some great centre clearance work from Kai Sturt and Dexter Goodall allowed goals to Brax Scheibel, Kai Denblyden and Roy Paterson.

The Blue pups led 20-3 at halftime.

Dalyston came out firing in the third, using the wind and kicking two goals.

The defence regrouped, with big efforts from Fergus Tillotson and Zoe Meyer to prevent any further goals.

It was game on at the break, the Blue pups held a slender lead, 20-18.

With the wind in the last quarter, Sam Koole repelled some early Magpie attacks before the midfield of Harvey Paterson, Bohdi Cooper and Will ‘Whizz’ Patton turned it on.

They combined to create attacking opportunities, giving Sam Cole a big goal to put the Blue pups eight points up.

Roy ‘The Freight Train’ Paterson kicked two late goals, giving him three for the game, sealing the win for the Blue pups, 38-18.

Another great team performance.
