Footy juniors tough it out against Leongatha - U12 Red

A perfect morning for footy as the Reds led by Captain ‘Super’ Stella Tilley took on a determined Leongatha side.

The first term was an arm wrestle as the ball zipped up and down the ground without either team scoring.

We put our bodies on the line and took some big hits but bounced back and went again.

Taj Piera gave us a great option up forward and did everything he could to get a score on the board.

Jaxen Marshall and Archie Dallinger provided the run and skills, both having big quarters.

Our tackling and pressure improved in the second quarter, but we were leaving it to a few.

Leongatha started to get the better of us and if not for Kolby Carton and crew in defence the deficit could have been much greater.

We really needed a lift going into the third quarter and a mark and goal from Flynn Riley gave some hope for a comeback.

Our attack was better in the last quarter and despite our best efforts, we just could not quite click as a team.

Denver Preddice Firth kick a goal to get us within a couple of points, but Leongatha responded quickly as the game slipped away.

The team will learn from this loss and focus on doing the simple things that make us play as a cohesive unit.
