Footy juniors tough it out against Leongatha - U14 Red
Final scores: PI Red 0.3(3) V Leongatha 10.7(67).
U14 Red
The sun was shining at the kennel on Sunday.
With players coming back from sickness and injury it was looking promising for the U14 reds as they got ready to take on Leongatha for the second time this season.
In the first quarter both teams came out strong and the midfielders led by Charlie, fighting hard, with Zach doing his best in the full back.
The pups kept ‘Gatha to only a couple of scoring shots.
The second quarter was a lot harder for the backline, but Jacob, Felix, Tilley and Max showed they were not backing down and pushed the ball back to our forward line time and time again.
However, the ‘Gatha backs proved too strong in defence, pushing back just as hard and leading the game by half time.
In the third quarter it was Brydon’s turn in the ruck, he smashed the ball well and freed up Charlie to do what Charlie does best – take on huge marks over his opponents.
His younger sister Gemma also had a great quarter, having a ball on the wing.
The final quarter was a tough one, the backline again tried their best and pushed the ball back down the field, long enough for Maddi to score for the pups however, this made ‘Gatha push harder.
Although the pups fought hard all game with high intensity, it wasn’t enough to keep the ‘Gatha team from scoring and taking the win.
Final scores: PI Red 0.3(3) V Leongatha 10.7(67).
Awarded players: Jacob Solohub, Chase Stewart, Jackson Allan and Charlie Fischer.
A massive congratulations to Ethan Tilley for hitting 50 games with the club!
Well done!
