Forward thinking house and garden design
Resilient gardens and comfortable homes of the future are the focus of a new video series being launched on December 2.
The series, presented by the Bass Coast Landcare Network focuses on changes in climate and if we can reassess what is possible in landscapes and gardens.
What crops, what seasons and what methods are all examined, as well as how is already demonstrating leadership in this area.
What would a comfortable home able to withstand climatic fluctuations of 2040 have to have in place and how would you do it?
These are just some of the questions answered by forward thinking home and garden owners in a new video series, which will debut on Thursday December 2 at 7pm in an online video and Q&A launch.
As part of the ‘Future Homes, Farms and Festivals’ project run by the Bass Coast Landcare Network, Landcare staff sought out progressive homeowners who had already implemented actions and features in their homes and gardens to help them withstand the fluctuations we will face with our changing climate.
Working with Seagrass Films, they developed a series of short videos to share with the community.
Hear from inspiring examples across Bass Coast on how they have adopted best practice approaches to increase their biodiversity, sustainability, comfort and liveability of their homes and gardens. How they did it, why, the benefits it has given them and how you can do it too.
Charles and Bev Watson in San Remo have cultivated a beautiful and functional garden using every bit of space, as have Paul and Fran Kirkpatrick of Cape Paterson who have an amazingly productive garden despite many environmental challenges.
Each of these garden owners share the challenges they have faced in creating their spaces with many take-home tips that you can incorporate in your own gardens.
Brendan Condon of The Cape development in Cape Paterson shares with us the way they have been able to bring together clean energy and modern design to create comfortable and efficient homes with high star ratings, and how the use of Biofilta cubes has turned their garden space into a productive easy to manage area.
Ric and Mez Oldham of Archies Creek share their story of building their beautiful new home and the features that help it comfortably withstand many climatic conditions.
This online webinar will be on Zoom and participants can ask questions through the chat function of the webinar to our garden and homeowners, which will be moderated by the Landcare hosts in between each video.
