Get counting those koalas
A team of PINP rangers, staff and volunteers will be conducting counts between October 12 and 19.
The five-yearly Island-Wide Koala Count is on again, and local community members and visitors alike are being asked to report any koala sightings and contribute to ongoing monitoring of Phillip Island’s wild koala population.
A team of Phillip Island Nature Parks’ rangers, staff and volunteers will be conducting counts in the Ventnor Koala Reserve, Oswin Roberts Reserve and Conservation Hill Reserve between October 12 and 19.
Local community members and visitors are encouraged to report any koala sightings anywhere on the Island during that week especially, by calling or texting 0436 522 520, or sending an email to info@penguins.org.au
Phillip Island Nature Parks’ Senior Ranger Daniel Kallstrom said: “These regular counts are important as they help us to understand what’s happening in the wild koala population across the island, and we would appreciate any support that our local community and visitors can offer with any sightings.”
