Get into the swing of jazz this Easter
Phillip Island Jazz is presenting The Swinging Cat’s Pyjamas this Easter, in a show that is sure to get toes tapping.
The show on Sunday, April 17 runs from 2pm – 4.30pm at the new home of jazz – the Phillip Island Bowling Club in Dunsmore Road in Cowes.
The Swinging Cat’s Pyjamas is a Melbourne-based vintage swing band playing music from a bygone era that will get you tapping and swinging all day.
Featuring the captivating voice of Laura Koomen, the sweet-toned clarinet player Amanda Jones, the rhythmic driving guitarist Adam Russo, and special guest on bass Erica Bramham.
Laura has performed in countless musicals and has studied voice, drama, and arts management. She is a leading member of the jazz vocal ensemble ‘Vox Chops’ and founding member of a-cappella quartet, ‘Vocal Entendre’.
Arranger and clarinet player Amanda Jones, has a rich background in big band music and performance and has been arranging and writing for big bands since 1994.
Melbourne-based guitarist Adam Russo has been quietly carving out a niche as a gifted rhythm guitarist and banjo player in the city’s thriving traditional jazz scene over the last decade.
Adam can be often found performing with jazz manouche trio ‘Catfish’ or swinging hard with ‘The Swinging Cat’s Pyjamas’.
