With ATAR results in and summer in full swing, many young people are enjoying a well-earned break while starting to think about their next steps.

Why not start your career close to home? Or are you returning to the workforce in 2025? Bass Coast Shire Council's Traineeship Program is back for 2025, offering opportunities to gain real-world experience, qualifications, and the foundation for a successful career.

For over 20 years, Council's Traineeship Program has offered 114 positions across a wide range of disciplines, with around 50 per cent of participants transitioning to permanent roles.

"Through the 2024 intake, we now have six full time trainees well on their way to completing their traineeship program," a council spokesperson said.

"Last year was a standout year for our trainees, with Council's trainees and programs earning recognition at the prestigious Apprentice Training Awards.

"One of our Business Administration Trainees was nominated in the Inspiration Award: Disability Achievement category, while our partnership with Westvic received a nomination for the GTO Industry Collaboration Award."

The 2025 intake will offer eight diverse roles, including new opportunities in Community Safety as well as Procurement and Fleet.

Trainees will be supported to achieve a relevant Certificate III qualification in fields such as business administration, live production and technical services, tourism, or information technology.

Traineeships on offer: People and Culture, Building Administration, Arts and Culture, Tourism and Business Development, Customer and Visitor Experience, Business Systems, Community Safety, Procurement and Fleet

Applications for the 2025 Traineeship Program close on February 2.

Successful applicants will commence in March, receiving structured training and support, flexible work arrangements, and pathways to internal opportunities.
