Vaccination rates across Gippsland continue to climb with all six shires now recording 90 per cent or more of the population receiving their first dose.

Every shire except Latrobe is also past the 70 per cent mark for second doses.

Bass Coast is leading the way, with 77.7 per cent of the population fully vaccinated, followed closely by East Gippsland on 75.3 per cent.

Four of the six shires now have vaccinated over 95 per cent of the eligible population.

Despite the rising local case numbers, the strong vaccination figures should help provide protection for residents as the state begins to open up this week.
